Asean Football Federations – AFF recently announced a news that tournament played with 10 teams which recently play with eight team and change in the format of play too.
As per sources Suzuki cup 2018 now playing with 10 teams and its divied in to two groups so on each group five team included. Under the new format Each team will be play two home and two away matches with their group teams in the Pool stage.
The semi-finals and final, however, will still be on a home-and-away format.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin are pleased with this new format and said
“We have not seen the full details of the new format yet. But the competition is certainly going to be on a longer duration with the home and away format. But it will certainly help generate more income (through gate collections) for the participating teams.
“Previously, only two countries were allowed to host the group-stage competition. The Suzuki Cup has a good following and I’m sure the fans will come to support our matches,” said Hamidin.
