Kookaburras Squad for Sultan Azlan Shah cup 2017 – Australia Hockey Team Players List


Defending Champions Australia Hockey Team named their final 18 Man Squad for the upcoming Sultan Azlan Shah cup which will be played from the 29th April to 6th May in ipoh, Malaysia.

Colin Batch Head coach of the Kookaburras team will be announced the experience players for this Sultan Azlan Shah hockey cup. Five players will make to return in the squad who are prepare for the world league semi final which played in south africa this year on july 2017.

Veteran midfielder Eddie Ockenden and forward Dylan Wotherspoon will play for the Kookaburras for the first time this year.

“The team for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is slightly different from the one which competed in Darwin (four-Test series with Pakistan) recently,” said Australian coach Colin Batch.

“We are giving as many players as possible the chance to prove themselves before we pick the team for the World League Semi Finals,” added Batch.

World No. 1 Australia, the reigning world champions, have won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup a record nine times are sending a strong squad for the Malaysia Azlan shah cup. Australia Hockey team will be starting the Azlan shah cup campaign by playing the first match against Their oceania rivals New Zealand on 29th April.

“The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup will provide good competition for us. It will be interesting to see how our new look side fare against the other teams,” he added.
